Festive Tips for SME’s

Author: Myk Baxter

With the big day now just seven weeks away, retail giants across the globe are beginning to push their festive promotions as they strive to stand tall against their competitors through strong advertising campaigns driven by large budgets and curated by their in-house marketing teams.

However, as a digital marketing consultancy that prides itself on supporting SMEs, we want to share a gift of our top festive marketing tips for those who run their business through a single social platform (such as Instagram), with a team of one or two employees.

#1 Stay Authentic

If you want to stand out from the crowd, it’s important to stay true to your business goals and aesthetic when promoting online, no matter what time of year it may be! For example, if you’re curating imagery, play on the colour scheme from within your original brand pack and incorporate your logo where possible. By doing so this will only make your content more memorable and you will see an increase in the number of followers returning and engaging with your brand. Some of whom may be paying customers, if you play your cards right!

Remember, don’t follow the pack!

#2 Set strict business hours

Whilst we all want to see high growth in sales this Christmas, it’s also important to embrace every aspect of the festive season and take some time for yourself!

Set and promote business hours (similar to those traditional bricks and mortar stores) and make customers aware that they will only be able to purchase and seek advice during these hours to save the feelings of stress and overwhelm.

#3 Analyze and adapt on your previous strategies

To ensure a steady flow of growth across the period, we advise analysing and adapting on your previous statistics, perhaps from the year previously or from around the time of another holiday, such as Easter. Ask yourself questions such as what were my bestsellers or what content contributed to the most sales.

#4 Consistency is key to success

Whether it be replying to messages, or posting content daily, every customer wants to purchase from a brand that is consistent and continues to deliver – even during a hectic sales period!

Should you need to seek an extra helping hand in order to be able to do so, we advise reaching out to the social media marketing team at Myk Baxter Marketing – who through their unparalleled knowledge and experience have helped businesses, both big and small, see significant growth in their ROI.
