A Guide To: The Simple Ways of Improving your SEO Score

As a leading digital marketing consultant, I know the formula needed in order to push your business site to the greatest of SEO levels.

In the title, you’ll notice that I’ve used the keyword “simple”, which these actions are but they still take time and great execution. These include internal linking, great website copy, and optimising your imagery.

Let’s take a look at each of these elements a little closely below.

Showcase Your Expertise and Authority in Your Niche

With SEO, you don’t want to follow the path of others just to gain website clicks & views. You must show E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness).

Google highly values these characteristics, and you want to make it clear to them that you are the go-to person or brand within your sector. This will help you pull in direct users to your site, leading to more conversions and a higher ROI across the board.

This is also just one of the ways that small brands compete well with large multi-national retail chains – so if you are an SEM, take note.

Incorporate a Keyword-Rich URL Structure

Strong keyword research always puts you at an advantage in the SERPs so you want to incorporate a targeted keyword strategy across every page in order to serve the best content to match a specific search intent.

You should be using the keywords and search intents found to structure your URL slugs and on-page content.

This applies to so much more than your copy, but also within those unseen image optimisation elements, such as your image alt text and your file names. Carrying out these easy actions is really effective.

Regardless of the vast improvements in AI technology, and its ability to read and discern imagery, utilising these elements will help the end user and search engines find your site and content easier.

Alongside your imagery, optimising other media elements will help to drive organic traffic through SE image searches, Youtube searches, and even reviews left about your business.

Produce Helpful Product Page Descriptions

Now, this really just applies to those online retailers with an amazing product page/catalogue. & yes whilst it may look super aesthetically pleasing, ask yourself if are you featuring product descriptions against each item?

If not, you first want to start creating content that ranks first, and then work on tweaking and refining it for your conversations once you begin to generate traffic and intrigue. This is what’ll help you gather helpful data to utilise.

Optimise Your Title & Meta Descriptions

The golden SEO rule is to always optimise your title and meta descriptions.

Imagine every page on your store as its own individual marketing opportunity. Every single page can pull in traffic and then drive user sales.

Carefully consider the tactics you can use to hook someone in, for example:

  • Free shipping/returns
  • 5-star reviews
  • A celebrity/influencer/content creator endorsement
  • Special media appearances

Other ways to improve your position in the SERPS include:

Work On Your Site Speed: No one likes a slow site, but Google loves a quick one!

Mobile Optimisation: In a world of technophobes, having a mobile-optimized site is a priority and you could lose users faster than you gained them without doing so.

Customer Reviews: When it comes to SEO, having more assets linked to your business is all the better, for example, customer reviews. Encourage customers to leave one behind after they’ve received their order.

Overall,

These elements can be actioned well but you want to ensure you have the time & resources to hand in order to do so or bring in an agency, like Myk Baxter Marketing to support you.
