eCommerce Expert: A January Roundup

January has truly been a month of “everything is not what it seems” for many reasons.

I kicked off 2023 with the drive and ambition of having my best year yet. I’d never felt more positive and motivated when it came to working on my business, connecting with new people and overall just giving it my all in every aspect of my life. But, this feeling didn’t last very long.

After jetting off to Tenerife on the 4th of January, for what I predicted to be a fantastic business trip, upbeat Myk was suddenly hit by the theft of my mobile phone, wallet, and other personal possessions. Every person’s worst nightmare abroad became my reality.

Unfortunately, this happened during a public holiday, meaning all shops and banks were closed. As a result, I was left unable to contact anyone back home and had limited access to emails. All of my meetings were also unable to happen. I was absolutely devastated and had never felt more on edge.

After a week of turmoil, I opted to fly home early with the expectation that I’d be able to resolve the mess within a day or two and life would return to normal. However, I only managed to get online properly last Thursday. For someone who runs a digital marketing agency, not being able to communicate with my team properly was a huge burden. And, of course, I was unable to consult, putting a massive amount of pressure on me and my team.

I’m now close to putting this all behind me and can work on re-aligning my mindset once more, with the last weekend really helping me to do so, as I participated in the FanDance challenge.

Once, again I teamed up with the legend that is CEO Adventurer John Beamson to complete this infamous 24km SAS Selection test march across Peny Fan, the Brecon Beacons’ highest mountain. I was pushed to my limit both physically and mentally, but it’s what I needed to bring back the feeling of determination that I need to push me through the next year. My new year officially starts now.

I express how much hiking has changed and saved my life in the episode of the ‘What’s It All About’ podcast hosted by Breakout Media and my good long-term friend Mike Lewis. Available on YouTube and Spotify, the episode also allowed me to share an insight into my personal journey with Myk Baxter Marketing and how I got to where I am today.

The first few weeks of the year may have been a challenge, but with the support of those around me, I’m ready to grab 2023 by the horns and enjoy the ride!
