An Insight into The Best of Subscription eCommerce

Author: Myk Baxter

Subscription eCommerce has continued to come on leaps and bounds in recent years due to a number of factors, including; the Coronavirus pandemic, global lockdowns & the fact that we’re now a population of online shoppers & screen addicts.

From beauty replenishment services to access (media content), our beloved eCommerce platforms are turning over billions of pounds a year, hence why it’s so understandable that many established retailers are keen to expand into this venture. But today, I want to highlight those giants that have already made their mark in the industry through the list below.

Netflix

Despite a recent loss in subscribers due to an increase in new competitors, Netflix is still the original pioneer of movie & television streaming – with their annual revenue in 2021 totalling almost 30 billion U.S dollars.

Thanks to original shows such as Bridgerton, Stranger Things & Sex Education & their cult following, they are continuing to encourage users to stick around, pay their monthly fees and watch this content that isn’t available anywhere else.

Hey Estrid

With incredible influencer backing, Hey Estrid is the razor service dedicated to changing gender-based discriminatory pricing. All of their products are cruelty-free & vegan & their stainless steel razor is sure to last you a lifetime, but it’s their subscription delivery service that makes them so unique.

In short, you begin by buying their starter kit, & you can then change & manage how often you receive your replacement & affordable quality razor heads. As a result, you’re able to stay on top of your self-care & never have to worry about running out again!

Compared Tailored Beauty Subscription Companies: Birchbox, Dollar Shave Club, Glossier’s ‘Never Run Out’ service

Spotify

Life without music would be a very dull one, and thanks to Spotify, we’re able to access our favourite artists, albums & podcasts in an instant.

With a whopping 182 million subscribers, the music streaming service is free to all but also grants users the ability to skip the ads & listen offline anywhere with Spotify Premium – which comes at a small monthly fee of £9.99. And as a nation of advertisement haters, they’ve got their users in a chokehold when it comes to offering them ad-free music.

Fresh Meal Prep

Founded by North-East-based entrepreneur, Matt Johnson, Fresh Meal Prep is the food delivery service that rivals Hello Fresh.

Designed for those with busy schedules or those who want to stay in shape without skipping the calories, Fresh delivers your meals straight to your door already prepped – cutting out the cooking & the washing up!

I myself am a loyal Fresh Meal Prep customer & their meals just keep getting better & better. I’d highly recommend them to my fellow eCommerce consultants.

In summary…

After reading this blog post, you may have noticed that you yourself are playing a huge role in the successful growth of subscription eCommerce as I’m sure that you’ll be registered to one of the above.
