A Post-Grad’s Guide To Finding (& Landing) Your Dream Digital Marketing Job

Spring is finally here & with it comes Graduation season – with this celebration being much anticipated by the classes of the last couple of years.

But as the graduates prepare to throw their caps high & claim their scrolls, we can also relate to the pressure & their feelings when it comes to finding & landing their dream post-grad job after many years of hard work.

Well do not fret, we’re here to support you in this search, especially if you plan to step foot into the world of digital marketing as in today’s blog post we’ll be sharing our top tips on how to make this journey a breeze.

LinkedIn Will Be Your Best Friend

Long gone are the days of using job sites such as Indeed, it’s now all about LinkedIn & building connections.

If you haven’t already created an account on the great platform then do it today & of course, after you’ve read this post! Once you’ve done so, send out connection invitations to those who work for the brands/organisations you wish to work for alongside those who may inspire you in your industry.

From here spark up conversations in the comment sections of their posts & share your opinions. The key is to keep things organic whilst showcasing your knowledge and passion for the sector.

By doing so you will find that you get headhunted for new roles & opportunities when they arise.

Speaking of opportunities, ensure to check LinkedIn daily for advertised jobs & work experience roles & don’t be afraid to take a leap & put yourself forward for them. After all, it may just work in your favour.

Finally, it’s important that you keep your profile up to date both by publishing your own content & within your experience listings.

Be Passionate

As we touched on above, showcasing your passion is what will really make you stand out when wanting to land your dream role.

If you run a blog or successful social media channel (such as Instagram), or already have great experience in website development showcase this to your potential employer from the get-go.

Personally, we see physical hard work & commitment to the industry as a far greater thing than the grades you have received. It’s all about great experience here at MBM.

Don’t Be Afraid to Start Small

Sometimes you can land your dream job as soon as step out of those university doors, but remember that it’s okay to also start small & work your way up.

If you dream of one day becoming a digital marketing manager & a copywriter or social media assistant role is vacant, apply for it!

Our very own Hannah Stocker began working for us as a content writer & due to her great communication, people & organisational skills she is now one of our dedicated account managers. All whilst creating great web copy & social media content!

Your Time Will Come

Finally, it’s also important to remember that it’s okay if a job within your sector doesn’t come your way straight away. Sometimes the best things come when you least expect it!

We at Myk Baxter Marketing wish all of this year’s graduates good luck in the search, & congratulations to you all on your great achievement!
